ETHICAL CODE OF THE PUBLICATION AND DECLARATION OF WRONG PRACTICES
Introduction
Guerra Colonial is a semi-annual periodical publication that is committed to deepening the knowledge of the history of colonial wars, from the incursions of European states in the world in the nineteenth century to the decolonization processes that took place in the century XX, although there are also other events that are not within those chronological and geographical frameworks that are linked to the causes that motivate the colonization processes.
In Guerra Colonial, we give importance to a type of publication based on scientific rigor and respectful treatment of sources, without forgetting the informative nature that should prevail in an online publication. Therefore, all those researchers and lovers of military history and the study of colonialism are invited to be encouraged to submit their work for future publication.
Responsibility of the organs of the magazine:
Director
The Director of Guerra Colonial will be responsible for ensuring the proper functioning and fulfillment of the obligations of the Editorial Board, evaluators and authors.
It will have as responsibility the adequate development of the Magazine and the maintenance of the editorial line, as well as a requirement that is met with the periodicity of the same.
Editorial Board
The Guerra Colonial Editorial Board is responsible for analyzing and deciding on the publication of the articles that are sent to the Journal, to process their acceptance or rejection, always keeping in mind the editorial line of the Journal and the guidelines issued of its Editorial Board.
The Editorial Board shall ensure the impartiality and objectivity of the evaluations, avoiding any possible conflict of interest that may arise. Preserve the anonymity of the evaluators, except with their consent.
As a result of its own assessment and the reports submitted by the evaluators, the Editorial Board will decide on the acceptance, rejection, or the need for review of the article by the author before publication, and will communicate to the authors their decision, stating the reasons that have justified it.
The final decision on acceptance or rejection may not take place until a new version of the article in question has been received by the author, and after this has been a new evaluation process.
Scientific Council
The Scientific Council shall ensure compliance with the scientific nature of the Journal and the use of good practices. Its members will promote the magazine within the academic and editorial world. They will also evaluate the editorial line and assist the Editorial Board or the Director in matters such as an advisory body.
Evaluators
The Editorial Board takes into consideration, when accepting or rejecting an article, the reports and assessments prepared by the evaluators appointed for this purpose.
Such evaluation will be anonymous, blind and there will be more than one evaluator for each job. The members of the Editorial Board of the Journal or the Scientific Council, external experts from the academic and business world, as well as members of the university world act as peers.
Who was designated as an evaluator of an article will have to carry out its review objectively, expressing its conclusions and points of view with arguments that support the judgments issued and the considerations made, avoiding personal and subjective assessments.
The evaluator must maintain the confidentiality of the information to which he has access in his work, as well as inform the Guerra Colonial Drafting Council of any possible conflict of interest that could affect impartiality in the exercise of the task that has been entrusted
Authors
Authors may only submit unpublished articles for evaluation that are not pending publication or evaluation in any other journal.
The authors will be responsible for their work, which they must carry out in an ethical and responsible manner. They will present their work with honesty, refraining from manipulating or omitting the appointment of third-party works, as well as citing those who have not read. They must also ensure that they have obtained the permits with which it was necessary to have for the reproduction of the content obtained from other sources.
In collective works, all authors must have made significant contributions to their content. The authors are responsible for the validity of the data used in their work and on which they base their conclusions.
They must inform the Editorial Board of the existence of any conflict of interest in which they may find themselves throughout the publication process. They also undertake to communicate, as soon as they are aware of their existence, any errors they may have identified in the published work and collaborate with the Guerra Colonial Drafting Council in the actions that are implemented below to correct or warn of the errata. verified.
Research Integrity
In Guerra Colonial we want to support research focused on the highest levels of ethical integrity, in order to achieve a decent scientific quality. Therefore, we consider important, according to Cambridge University standards as essential values, honesty in the research process, transparency and clear communication between authors and publishers, and maximum respect for the participants involved in the publications.
In the event that any of these aspects is not duly fulfilled in our editorial process or as a result of it, it will be the obligation of the editors and authors who detect it to communicate it to the Guerra Colonial management bodies, an aspect that may be denounced by any reader, communicating it to kolonial.guerra@gmail.com.
Editorial process
The editorial process of the Guerra Colonial is independent and we want to guarantee it through regulations. We do not belong to any institutional body and our editorial process is therefore free from external influences, focused solely on the production and editing of scientific articles. Our Scientific Council is responsible for supervising good practices in terms of content.
The editorial process begins with the sending of a proposal or text to Guerra Colonial through its mail kolonial.guerra@gmail.com or by contact on the website: www.guerracolonial.es. Once received, the proposal is reviewed by a member of the Editorial Board to verify that it meets the minimum conditions and once approved, it is sent for evaluation to two specialists in the field, independent of the journal, who will prepare their reports properly without knowing The identity of the author.
The works received for evaluation will be treated as confidential material and no information contained in them will be disclosed or discussed, except with the consent of the author, with people other than the author, the editors or the reviewers.
At this time, the Editorial Board, according to these reports, will make the decision on the publication in Guerra Colonial, taking into account that the publication can be delayed up to one year depending on the needs of the magazine. The evaluated article will be classified as Suitable for publication, Apt with corrections and Not Apt. In the case of Apt with corrections, the author will be notified of the faults to be corrected and a period of one month will be given for resolution. Once the author submits the text again, he will be supervised by the Editorial Board and the external evaluators to ensure that the changes have been made.
Peer Review
The digital magazine Guerra Colonial guarantees the publication of research papers submitted to peer review by the double blind procedure.
The magazine undertakes that the works be evaluated by two external evaluators, who will not know at any time the identity of the author of the text. We will also take care that there are no frauds in the process and the texts sent to the evaluators will be reviewed beforehand so that they do not have marks or signs that can identify the authors. Any indication of fraudulent action detected by authors or publishers must be communicated immediately to the Directorate of the magazine or, where appropriate, to the Editorial Board.
With this measure we intend to guarantee the scientific quality of the Guerra Colonial in the entire editorial process, as well as the secret identity of the authors and the non-influence of personal aspects in the evaluation of the works. Similarly, the identity of external evaluators will be confidential.

General ideas taken from other authors should also be referenced. Obviously, it is not allowed to cut and paste sources taken from the internet or take possession of another person's identity without their knowledge.

It can also occur with overlapping texts without being properly referenced. In any case, in Guerra Colonial this type of behavior is not allowed and any publication that commits this type of duplicity will be rejected, with the exception of being referenced and duly justified.
Integrity of people and animals
When an article includes the results of experimentation with animals or testimonies of people, they must be respectful and remain in ethical standards. When an interview is used for the publication of an article, both the interviewer and the interviewee must agree on the publication in the Guerra Colonial and will ensure that it is so that the author has the consent of the interviewee. In the hypothetical case that the investigation has an animal component, it will be valued that their rights are respected in an indisputable way. Conflicts of interest: The digital magazine Guerra Colonial is a non-profit publication, based on the altruistic dissemination of scientific knowledge related to colonial conflicts, decolonization processes and neo-colonialism. It is governed by the system of open publications and does not claim any payment for reading its contents. It may be the case that editors, evaluators or members of any of the journal's bodies submit articles for publication and when this occurs, the evaluation system will be the same as for any author. In the event that any member of the Guerra Colonial locates a conflict of interest, they must notify the Directorate of the magazine at kolonial.guerra@gmail.com or through the website: www.guerracolonial.es, to try to solve the problem.

The ultimate responsibility for any expression or statement belongs to the author, but since Guerra Colonial we do not support the defamation of other people, groups and institutions at all. Therefore, we keep the right to demand some change in texts that promulgate such practices.
Retractions and corrections
In the same way that the authors must correct the mistakes made in their articles by indication of the double blind evaluation reports or by the Editorial board, it is necessary that the journal do the same in case of error.
In Guerra Colonial we are concerned with maintaining a high scientific quality and therefore any error detected on the web will be corrected, as well as in the edition of the articles. The Guerra Colonial team will raise as many errors as possible to the Editorial Board for its correction in a continuous process.
In the event that the article has already been published, we will be consistent and withdraw it if it affects any inappropriate practice such as plagiarism, defamation, duplicate publication or attempt against the dignity of other people.
Forgery, Manufacturing and Image Manipulation
In Guerra Colonial we watch over the authorship of the photographs and images. As a general rule, visual materials cannot be included in the articles, but if they are made, they will be done taking into account their identification and their reference, indicating the source and origin.
Any image that does not meet these characteristics will be removed after notifying the author.
The same goes for the cover and present images on the web, all of them are free photographs on the internet and not for profit by the magazine.
Fraudulent investigation and misconduct of investigation
Since the Guerra Colonial we are committed to quality research and ethical behavior, so that any misuse of these or misconducts referred to above will be punished with the withdrawal of the publication immediately.
